Mellody Farm: Three Days Out

Three days before Christmas, the light goes early and the errands get specific. This is the week’s best hour for music you didn’t plan on.

Goodrich Caroling sings at Mellody Farm from four to six, through dusk and into the lit evening. The strolling carolers sing along the walkways rather than a stage, which means the singing arrives without warning somewhere between the parking lot and the last thing on your list.

Four voices, no microphones, Dickensian dress, and the carols everyone knows well enough to hum. It takes about ninety seconds of standing still to stop feeling behind schedule.

If the shopping is nearly done, this is a reward. If it isn’t, the music helps more than hurrying does.

Free and open to all. No tickets, no reservation, just the simple joys of the season, sung aloud.
